Faye Adele's Story
Life
Retired English/reading, sociology, psychology, anthropology, history teacher after 35 years with the Hartford Public Schools, the last 13 at Weaver High. Since retiring I have completed my Doctorate in History. Since Connecticut teachers hired prior to 1985 don't pay FICA, I had to get a second career to qualify for Medicare. Thus I am currently an adjunct professor at Central Connecticut State University teaching American Lit, World Lit. and composition and at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport where I am teaching Western Civilizations. I have traveled extensively throughtout Europe and Australia, where I have a godson, and traveled to Morocco as part of an institute through Yale University.
In May I retired from the Connecticut Higher Education division where I was teaching at Central Connecticut State Univesity and Housatonic Community College. 46 years is long enough to teach! er since. I have signed up to take a couple of courses in stuff that interests me like art and science. Now I am just another unemployed doctorate professor!
School
Have a double BS degree from Central CT State, A MED from U of Hartford, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study and MA in History from Trinity Hartford and completed all my PhD work at UConn except for disertation a Doctor of Arts in History and an MA in English from Belford University. Also classes at Yale, U of California at Chico, U of C at San Diego and San Diego State. Received specialized training by the Constitutional Rights Foundation and America Alive. Also taking any classes that I come across that look interesting.
I try to read a book a day but finding it more difficult as have problems with my eyesight due to diabetes. More like five books a week now. My passions are still reading, music - especially opera, and tennis (even though I can no longer play). Travel has become limited as costs go up and it is no longer fun to travel since 9/11.
